Preface
I'll be posting a part each day, then when done will post a link to a downloadable pdf that is .
There
are many other pamphlets and courses for new Christians that are much
better than this, but perhaps this might help, encourage, stimulate,
and ground someone in the faith. That is my only intent. This copy is

B3 Study the material. Look up
the Bible verse to know the context. You might want to look up the
topic in Torrey's
New Topical Textbook
. If you go to the link, look up the topic (the first one is God).
Hover over the verse and the reference will be readable. You can also
find more themes of these topics from Manser’s
Dictionary of Bible Themes.

C1 Statement 1: I
believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
E1 Isaiah 44:6 NRSV Thus
says the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of
hosts: I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.
E2 Isaiah 37:16 NRSV O
LORD of hosts, God of Israel, who are enthroned above the cherubim,
you are God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have
made heaven and earth.
E3 Deuteronomy 4:34-35 NRSV Or
has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from
the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and wonders, by war,
by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by terrifying displays
of power, as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very
eyes? 35 To you it was shown so that you would acknowledge that the
LORD is God; there is no other besides him.
D2 [I believe in] the
Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth (further
study God,
God’s
Work,
and The Trinity)
E1 Genesis 1:1 NRSV In
the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth.
E2 John 1:1-4 NRSV In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came
into being through him, and without him not one thing came into
being. What has come into being 4 in him was life, and the life was
the light of all people.
E3 Acts 14:15 NRSV Friends,
why are you doing this? We are mortals just like you, and we bring
you good news, that you should turn from these worthless things to
the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all
that is in them.
D1 [I believe in] and
Jesus Christ
E1 Luke 2:11 NRSV to
you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the
Messiah, the Lord.
E2 John 20:28 NRSV Thomas
answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
D2 his
only begotten Son,
E1 John 3:16 WEL For
God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that
anyone believing in him should not perish but have everlasting
life.
E2 Proverbs 30:4 GW [To the
audience] Who has
gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in the
palm of his hand? Who has wrapped water in a garment? Who has set up
the earth from one end to the other? What is his name or the name of
his son? Certainly, you must know!
D3 our
Lord:
E1 Romans 1:3 WEL Concerning
his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who came from the offspring of David,
according to the flesh.
E2 Acts 2:36 WEL "Therefore
let the whole house of Israel confidently know that God has made
this same Jesus whom you have crucified both Lord and Christ."
C3 Statement 3 Who
was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary:
E1 Luke 1:35 PickNT In
answer the angel said to her: "Holy Spirit will come upon you
and the power of the Most High will hover over you; precisely for
this reason the holy One who is to be born will be called 'Son of
God'!
E2 Matthew 1:20 NIV But
after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in
a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take
Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the
Holy Spirit.
E1 Luke 2:5-7 PickNT to
enroll himself with Mary, the woman who had been betrothed to him,3
who was pregnant. 6, So it happened that when they got there the days
for her to give birth were completed; 7, and she gave birth to her
firstborn Son, wrapped Him in pieces of cloth and laid Him in the
manger, because there was no room for them in the lodging place.
E2 Matthew 1:25 NIV But
he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son.
And he gave him the name Jesus.
E3 Galatians 4:4 NIV But
when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law.
C4 Statement 4: Suffered
under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended
into hell:
D1 Suffered
under Pontius Pilate
(further study: Jesus’s
suffering,
Crucifixion,
Body
of Christ,
Prophecies
about Christ)
E1 Luke 23:24-25 GW Pilate
decided to give in to their demand. 25 He freed Barabbas, who had
been put in prison for rioting and murdering, because that's what
they wanted. But he let them do what they wanted to Jesus.
E2 John 19:1 NIV Then
Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
E1 John 19:33-34 NIV But
when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did
not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side
with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
E2 Mark 15:43-45 NIV Joseph
of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself
waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for
Jesus' body. Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead.
Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. When
he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to
Joseph.
Matthew 27:59-60 NIV Joseph
took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in
his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big
stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.
John 19:40-42 NIV Taking
Jesus' body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips
of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. At the
place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the
garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. Because it was
the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they
laid Jesus there.
E1 Psalms 16:10 NKJV For
You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One
to see corruption.
(Note, it is written “...my soul in Sheol,” and not body in
Sheol).
Luke 23:43 NKJV And
Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be
with Me in Paradise."
(Note, some believe that Jesus and the saved criminal went to
heaven).
(Also see Ephesians 4:9-10, 1
Peter 3:18-20, Matthew 12:40). “Hell” has 2 compartments as seen
in the Lord Jesus speaking of Lazarus and the Rich Man. Lazarus went
to a place of comfort, but the Rich Man went to a place of torment.
They were in the same place. Each side was separated by a great
chasm. Compare Did
Jesus Go To Hell?
C5 Statement 5: The
third day he rose again from the dead:
(further study: here
(this is a pdf book by Dr Gary Habermas) and here
(Dr. Habermas’ articles and books)).
D1 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 NKJV
For I delivered to
you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and
that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and
that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was
seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part
remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
D2 Acts 10:39-40 NKJV And
we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the
Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. 40
Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly.
C6 Statement 6: He
ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father
Almighty:
E1 John 6:62 NRSV Then
what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was
before?
E2 Acts 1:9-11 NRSV When
he had said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a
cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going and they
were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood
by them. 11 They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand
looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you
into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
E1 Colossians 3:1 NIV Since,
then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things
above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
E2 Mark 14:62 NIV "I
am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting
at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of
heaven.
E3 Romans 8:34 NIV Who
then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more
than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is
also interceding for us.
D1 1 Peter 4:5 NKJV They
will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the
dead.
D2 2 Timothy 4:1 NKJV I
charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will
judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom.
D3 2 Corinthians 5:10 NRSV For
all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that
each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body,
whether good or evil.
